I went out for a night with the girls, and as you can imagine, we definitely had some pre drinks. And when I say pre, I mean I had no intention of spending money that night, as one does when they are trying to pay rent, so I drank lots before going out. The night started off so well, my friends and I were happy, I got to meet my friend's new boyfriend, vibes were high.
We get to our first stop of the night, and girl, I was just trying to get a drink, but there were two guys in my way, and I was like, well, can you guys get out of my way if you are just sitting on your phone while at the bar? Of course, this snarky comment of mine caught their attention, a little surprised, they seemed to be really enjoying whatever was on their phones before. We get to talking, as one does, and they bought me a drink. One of them was quite attractive, so I was like, yep, this is it, I'd love to talk to you for the night. I didn't though, I left with my friends, gave him my number. We texted for a while, he showed up at the next bar I was at. Perfect, we leave together, he comes over.
First mistake, FIRST mistake, never go back to your place. We get in the elevator, he's already very touchy, and at this point I'm about it. So we go out, you know, it happens, and then fall asleep. Next morning he's really like, let's do this again, I'm like, ok sure, whatever, I like you, I'll probably never see you again, and like, no judgments please, but a one night stand was very much ok with me for that day. Usually I'm against it, but I was feeling differently.
He leaves, tells me to text him, weird because he didn't seem like the type. So I text him later that day, just about how his day was going, he said he had to do a couple things, I asked about it. He responded quickly, I answered again, and boom, just as I expected, he ghosted. Totally chill, I didn't want much from him.
Days go by, we hit Friday again, he starts blowing up my phone, calling, texting, I'm like, woah, weird. I don't answer, I'm out of the city. He does it again Saturday, I respond because I'm a little tipsy, I say I'm away, he's like, I gotta see you when you're back. EW GROSS.
Then I get back, same thing happens the next weekend, I don't answer the Friday, and then the Saturday I'm like, not tonight. He texted me saying, I'm here, I said, where, he's like, I'm here, sends me my address, I'm like, let's not do this, I'm terrified, so I have to put a chair at my apartment door to sleep, as one would, although I have great security at my place, I wanted to do it anyways for the sake of my sanity. At this point I should have blocked him, but I just didn't answer, went to bed.
Two weeks go by, he's texted here and there, but I think he finally got the point. Until I'm at the bar and guess who's standing behind me. He taps me and takes my drink, I'm like, um, hello, and at this point I ran for the bathroom and didn't look back, and blocked him.
Safe to say, please don't take the random guy home from the bar, enough was enough.
Now be honest with yourself for a second. When he texted "I'm here" with your own address, would you have opened the door, or built yourself a chair-against-the-door fortress like I did?
I already know which one I'd flag as the actual final straw. It's not the ghosting, that part was fine by me. It's the address text. That's the moment this stopped being a normal one night stand story and turned into something else.
Learn from me. Skip the apartment.
